Funeral services for Laura Frangenberg were
held at 10:3 0 a.m. Friday, April 9, 1999 , at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Primghar,Iowa, with Rev. Gerald Zeman and Deacon LeRoy Rupp officiating. "Prayer of St. Francis" and "On
Eagles Wings" were sung by St. Anthony's Church Choir. The organist was Judy Sweeney.
The honorary casket bearer was
Mark Clark.
The casket bearers were Tom Bortscheller, Gary Bortscheller, Pat O'Leary, Chris Clark, Dave
Bortscheller and Burdette Ginger.
Interment was at the Calvary Cemetery at Primghar, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian Eldridge Funeral Home.
OBITUARY
Laura Frangenberg, the daughter of Frederick
and Mathilda Wilberding Rupp, was born June 16,
1922 , in Cherokee, Iowa. She received her
education in Cherokee Schools. During W.W. II she was employed in an ammunition factory and later worked as a secretary in a law office in Cherokee.
On April 20 , 1949 , she was united in marriage to Tony Frangenberg in Cherokee, Iowa. The
couple farmed in the Larrabee, Hartley and Primghar area for many years, and she was employed as a cook at the Primghar Care Center. The couple moved into Primghar
in 1979 .
Her husband preceded her in death on March 22 , 1990 , in Sioux City.
She remained at the family home in Primghar and passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 1999,
reaching the age of 76 years, 9 months and 21 days.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic
Church in Primghar and the Guild of the Church. She was a member of the American Legion
Auxiliary of Primghar and enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by three sons: Dan and his wife, Bonnie Frangenberg of Archer, Iowa, Roger and his wife, Linda Frangenberg of Primghar, and Kevin and his wife, Karen Frangenberg of Lesterville, South Dakota; four daughters and their husbands: Colleen and Steve Hughes of Akron, Ohio, Jane and Glenn Kohrs of Lake City, MN, Paula and Sherwin Hesebeck of Archer, Iowa,
and LuAnn Geiken of Cedar Falls, Iowa; also 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four
brothers and
their wives: Walter and Marjorie Rupp of
Denison, Iowa, Donald and Bonnie Rupp of Storm Lake, Iowa, Roy and Bonnie Rupp of Cherokee,
Iowa, and Fred and Joan Rupp of Sioux City; five sisters: Irene and her husband, Claude Bortscheller of Marcus, Iowa, Marie
Bortscheller of Remsen, Iowa, Shirley and her husband, Rudy Sims of Schaller, Iowa, Norma Clark of Cherokee, Iowa, and Mary and her
husband, John O'Leary of Storm Lake, Iowa; also a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband;
parents; a brother, Leo in infancy; and one sister, Eleanor Dahlen.
