TONY FRANGENBERG
1913-1990
Funeral services were held Monday, March 26, 1990 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Primghar, for Tony Frangenberg. Rev.
Anthony Pick officiated.
Pallbearers were Dale Hansen, Burdette Ginger,
Tom Bortscheller, Bertus DeRidder, Sr., Bill Wagner, and Dave Bortscheller. Music was
provided by St. Anthony's Church Choir,
accompanied by Judy Sweeney. Lector was Joe
Sikora, and Mass Servers were Tony Einck and Phillip Shea.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Primghar,
with Gaudian Eldridge Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Military graveside services were given by
Chateau-Thierry Post 36.
Tony Frangenberg, son of William and Katherine
Tutschen Frangenberg, was born December 11,1913 in Anthon, Iowa. He received his education in
schools around Anthon. He was called into the service from 1941 to 1945 during WWII serving
in the Army.
On April 20, 1949 he was united in marriage to
Laura Rupp in Cherokee, Iowa. After their
marriage the couple farmed in Hartley, Cherokee before settling near Primghar in 1955. In 1960 he started Frangenberg Sanitation Company, which he operated until his retirement in May of 1988. The couple moved into Primghar in
1979.
Tony passed away at the Marian Health Center in
Sioux City, Iowa on Thursday, March 22, 1990, reaching the age of 76 years, three months and 11 days.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic
Church in
Primghar and Chateau Thierry Post of the
American Legion of Primghar.
Tony leaves to cherish his memory his wife
Laura of Primghar: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dan and Bonnie Frangenberg of
Archer, Roger Frangenberg of Primghar, and
Kevin and Karen Frangenberg of Scotland, South Dakota; four daughters and three sons-in-law. Colleen and Steve Hughes of Arden, North Carolina, Jane and Glenn Kohrs of Lake City, Minnesota, Paula Frangenberg of Sheldon, and
LuAnn and Marv Geiken of Dike; 10 grandchildren; and one brother, OttonFrangenberg of Marcus; also a host of
other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters
O'Brien County Bell, Primghar, O'Brien County, Iowa, Thursday, March 29, 1990 page 3
