PRIMGHAR, Iowa -- Marcella Jenness, 75, of Primghar died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Sanborn, Iowa, with the Revs. Tim Johnson, Paul McKane and William Wingert officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Primghar. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Sunday, with the family present after 6:30 p.m. and a Scripture wake service at 7 p.m., at Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Primghar.

Marcella J. Jenness, the daughter of Arthur and Frances (Epping) West, was born March 31, 1927, in Sanborn, Iowa. She received her education first in a country school near the family farm and later graduating from Hartley (Iowa) High School.

On Jan. 9, 1947, she was united in marriage to Oliver L. Jenness in Sanborn. After their marriage, the couple settled in O'Brien County, Iowa, where they farmed for many years. In the early 1970s, she attended L.P.N. Nursing School in Cherokee, Iowa. After her graduation, she was employed at Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar. The couple moved from the family farm into Primghar in 1989. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1990, in Primghar. She remained in the family home in Primghar until entering the Sioux City hospital.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Primghar and the Guild, where she served in various positions. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, where she served as secretary, Primghar Women's Club, Hospital Auxiliary in Primghar and the Rosedale Club. She was secretary of the Primghar Housing board and was active in the cancer crusade and the Bloodmobile. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, gardening and being outdoors.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Craig and Bonnie Jenness of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Larry and Connee Jenness of Primghar; two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Marv Einck of Primghar, and Jolene and Ross Friedrichsen of Arthur, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Jenness of Cherokee; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine West of Sanborn, and Marilyn and her husband, Dale Peters of Hartley; four brothers, Robert and his wife, Joyce West of Hartley, and Donald, Darrell and Charles West, all of Sanborn; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Einck; and two brothers, Raymond and a brother in infancy.
