Daisy M. Hahn

Daisy Marie Hahn, the daughter of Otto and Christina (Hollander) Kruse, was born on April 17, 1922, in Everly, Iowa. She grew up in rural South Dakota and later moved to Iowa where she graduated from Everly High School in the Class of 1942.

On November 5, 1954, Daisy was united in marriage to Harold Hahn in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple lived in Hartley where Daisy worked at the Hartley Ceamery and later worked as a housekeeper. Following a short illness, Daisy passed away at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center on Monday, November 14, 2011, at the age of 89.

She was a member of the sevent Day Adventist church and the Methodist Women's group. Known locally as "The Mitten Lady," Daisy knitted many hats for the Head Start program, infant sweaters and many many pairs of mittens for those in need.

Daisy is survived by a daughter, Elsie Berhardt and her husband David of Coulter, Iowa; grandchildren {redacted]; a sister, Edna Gunderson and her husband, George of Minneapolis, Minnesota, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, son Dean, brother, Harm Kruse, and a sister, Katrina Kruse.

A memorial service was held on Friday, November 18 at the Hartley United Methodist Church in Hartley, Iowa. Rev. Steve Campbell officiated. Inurnment was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Hartley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
