Betty K. Tippy, age 71, of Storm Lake, died Monday, May 1, 2000 at the Good Samaritan Center in Newell following a brief illness. No funeral services are planned. The Fratzke Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the cremation arrangements.

Betty Kathryn Willey was born April 15, 1929 in Sutherland, the daughter of Merle Ward Willey and Stella Belvea Poe Willey. She attended Sutherland schools and graduated from high school there in 1947.

She was married to George E. Tippy on January 29, 1955 in Sutherland. The couple moved to Storm Lake that same year.

Betty was a member of the First United Methodist church of Storm Lake and had been a Cub Scout leader.

She is survived by her husband George, Storm Lake; a son, Ellis Edward Tipp, Kansas City, Missouri, and two daughters, Deborah K. Siepka and her husband Lucian, Cherokee, and Marcia Lynn Tippy of Storm Lake. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Willey and his wife, Jean, Spencer, and Sidney Willey and his wife, Carol, Wahpeton; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
