Funeral services for Alfred Breitbarth of May City were held Friday, July 21 at Saint John's Lutheran Church of May City. Mr. Breitbarth passed away on Tuesday, July 18 at the Hartley Hospital. Burial was in the [West] Prairie View Cemetery near Paullina.

Alfred Adam Frederick Breitbarth, the son of Theodore and Minna Stamer Breitbarth was born January 21, 1898 at Granville in Union Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in Saint John's Lutheran Church at Germantown.

He was united in marriage to Ernestine Sohn on January 23, 1923 at Cherokee, Iowa. They farmed near Aurelia, Washta, Paullina, Battle Creek, and Primghar, Iowa. For the past five years they had made their home at May City, Iowa.

He was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church at Macy City and the Lutheran Layman's League.

He passed away at the hospital in Hartley, Iowa, on July 18, 1978, at the age of 80 years. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers: Herman and William, and one sister, Emma Swenson.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Ernestine; one brother, Edward of Iona, Minnesota; and one sister, Mrs. Fred (Matilda) Voss of Cherokee, Iowa, as well as other friends and relatives.
