George Reuben Cole was born April 12, 1887, at Chicago, Illinois, the sone of Cyrus Cole and Clara Beardsley. He passed away Thursday evening, December 14, 1972.

On May 16, 1908, he was united in marriage to Cora Paxson of Hebron, Illinois. The couple homesteaded in Gregory County, South Dakota, then moved three years later to their family farm near Platte, South Dakota. They remained there for 25 years. The entire Cole family moved to the Sutherland area during the years of 1932 to 1934. In 1948, Mr. and Mrs. Cole moved from the farm to their home in Sutherland.

Mr. Cole was a life-time member of the Masonic Lodge in Platte. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Those who survive include his two sons, George, Jr. of Sutherland and Sidney of Primghar, five grandchildren and one great grandson.
