David L. Peckham, eldest son of Daniel and Nancy Rockwell Peckham, was born near Rome, NY, July 1, 1880. He passed away at his home in Gaza, Iowa, January 6, 1958.

He came to Iowa with his parents in the spring of 1885. They located on a farm in Highland Township where he lived until 1925 when he moved to Gaza.

On June 23, 1908, he was united in marriage to Pearl DeWees at Whittier, Iowa. They had four children, the oldest son, Barclay, preceded him in death on February 3, 1936. Howard of Cedar Rapids, Amy Sturgeon of Dodge City, Kansas and Arthur of Hiawatha, Iowa.

After leaving the farm, Mr. Beckham operated a hardware store in Gaze for a few years and was a township assessor for twenty-six years; he also assisted in the post office. He was a lifelong member of the Society of Friends and received his education in their school.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, one daughter and six grandchildren; one brother, Robert; and two sisters, Marian Gooden and Ethel Peckham, all of California.
