James Arthur Williamson (1918-1992)

James Arthur Williamson, the son of Otto and Effie Henry Williamson, was born November 19, 1918, in Carson, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Carson community where he received his early education and graduated from high school. He continued his education for one year before entering the military in 943. James served with the Army-Air Forces until his discharge from active service in 1945. He remained on reserve status until 1950, when he returned to active duty. He received his discharge as a 1st Lt. in 1952.

James married Viola Cooper on April 25, 1940 in Ottumwa, Iowa. In 1946 they moved to Spencer, where James worked for Redmond's Shoe Store before becoming an insurance agent.

Mr. Williamson passed away at the Spencer Municipal Hospital on November 5, 1992, at the age of 73.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters. Eunice Hagans and Zeda Gangwer and one brother, Lloyd Williamson.

James is survived by his wife, Viola, one daughter and he husband, Sandra and David Christiansen of Sabula, Iowa; two grandsons, two great granddaughters; three sisters, Lois Price of Omaha, NE., and Wilma Trent and Velma, Mrs Fred Stuhr, both of Macedonia, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 7 at the First Christian Church in Spencer, Iowa with Rev. David Nash officiating. Interment was at Waterman Cemetery, Sutherland, under the direction of the Warner Funeral Home of Spencer.
