Gladys Puhrmann, 95, of Paullina died Sunday, March 16, 2002 at her residence in South Sioux City, Nebraska, following a brief illness.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, with the Rev. Karl Eckhoff officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.

Gladys Ida Elizabeth (Ehlers) Puhrmann was born July 22, 1906 in Liberty Township, Cherokee County, rural Cleghorn, Iowa, the daughter of Hiram Albert and Wilhelmine Henrietta "Minnie" (Drefke) Ehlers. She was baptized August 19, 1906 at Saint Mark's Mill Creek Lutheran Church near Meriden, Iowa, and confirmed May 20, 1920. She attended Liberty #3 School.

She married Harry J. Puhrmann on June 7, 1933 at Saint Mark's Mill Creek Lutheran Church in Meriden. The couple farmed in the Paullina area until March 5, 1969, when they retired and moved into Paullina. Her husband, Harry, died February 19, 1983, in Primghar, Iowa. She moved to South Sioux City April 1, 2001 to live near her daughter.

She was a member of Zion Luthean Church in Paullina, Dorcas Society for eight years, Ladies Aid Guild, where she held the office of vice president and president, was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years, and was a former church choir member.

Survivors include three daughters, Lois Marlene Lackore pf Casa Grande, Arizona, Ada Elizabeth and her husband, Marvin Hunt of South Sioux City, Nebraska, and Faye Harriet Rutstein of Portland, Oregon; three granddaughters and their husbands; two great granddaughters; two great gransons; a sister, Elsie Salmon of Concord, California; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Milo, Milton, and Lloyd Ehlers; a sister, Lucy Bobolz; and a son-in-law, Arlyn Lackore.
