Aphelia (Philp) Fife was born November 27, 1864 at Cannington, Ontario, Canada. With her parents she came to Tama county, Iowa, when less than a year old.

She was united in marriage to Wm C. Fife of Paullina on February 16, 1890, at Waterloo, Iowa. The following March she came to O'Brien county, where she has since made her home.

To this union were born three children: Raymond of Paullina; Mrs Mabel Bonner of Jewell, Iowa; and Emma of South Bend, Indiana.

They made their home on the farm in Dale township until June 1919, when they moved to Paullina.

She passed away suddenly March 24, 1930 at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 27 days, and leaves to mourn her death her husband, three children, two grandchildren, two sisters, and a host of relatives and friends.

She united with the Presbyterian church early in life and since has been a faithful and devoted follower.

Funeral services at the home and in the Presbyterian church were conducted by Rev. H.P. Morgan on Wednesday afternoon. Music consisting of very appropriate hymns, was furnished by the church choir under the direction of Mrs. W.J.E. Thatcher, with Mrs. Weston Ralston at the piano.

Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery, and the pall bearers were: John Hodgdon, William Simm, Harry Horstman, Herman Mericle, I.R. Isenberg and Wm. Reager.

In the death of Mrs. Fife the home has lost a devoted wife and mother; the church has lost a valuable and consistent member, and the neighbors have lost a very true and much appreciated friend who was always ready to help in the hour of need. She has left a great vacancy in this community and she will be greatly missed by all. The sympathy of her many friends is extended to all the members of the family.
