Services in memory of Pearl Amanda Lettengarver are scheduled for Thursday, September 14, 2000, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley, Iowa. Pastor Kenneth Funke officiated. Pleasant View Cemetery of Hartley is the place of interment. Warner Funeral Home of Hartley is in charge of arrangements.

Pearl Amanda Lettengarver was born February 25, 1904, on a farm in Osceola County, Iowa, the daughter of Adolph and Arvena Payne Broesch. During her childhood, she lived on various farms in O'Brien and Oscedola counties until moving to Hartley in 1924.

She attended country schools in both O'Brien and Osceola counties and graduated from Hartley Public School in 1921. Her normal training was obtained in Sheldon Iowa, after which she taught all grades in various country schools in Osceola County for a period of nine years.

She was united in marriage to George Lettengarver on March 20, 1930, at a home ceremony. They were engaged in farming from 1930 to 1969 in Osceola County. In 1970, they relocated to Hartley.

Pearl was a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Churh of Hartley and she enjoyed sewing, crafts, music, gardening and reading.

On Sunday, September 10, 2000, Mrs. Lettengarver passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa, at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and a brother in infancy.

Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Linda and Arlan (Butch) Egdorf of Orange City, Iowa; as well as other relatives and friends.
