All I know about my 2-great-grandfather Martin Nicholson was that he married Susan Murphy April 23, 1878 in Monroe county, Iowa. Before then I'm not sure where he came from. He is listed as a coal miner in susequent census info so I'm guessing he may have taken the train from Illinois to find work in the coal mines. The Union Pacific runs from Chicago to Albia. I think I'm close in my assumptions here. We may have a connection. Do you have any records of a Martin in your Nicholson records that was born around 1847? If so let me know. Thank you for your time.
