hi,

I am researching martin nicholson(1847-1917). i found him and his wife susan(murphy)and my great grandfather(john peter nicholson/age 1) in the 1880 iowa census(monroe co/albia). in the 1900 census martin is listed as being born in england but i'm not sure if that is right or not. i know his son went to chicago @1900 to visit his godfather. i'm thinking it may have been an uncle but it could be anyone. martin was also a miner which makes me think he may have followed the union pacific railroad from chicago to iowa. he and his wife are buried in st patricks cemetery in monroe co/guilford twp, iowa. any info you can provide will be greatly appreciated. i have an uncle in chicago with a lot of nicholson info but he wants to keep it all to himself i guess. it sure does the rest of the family a lot of good.
