My Great Grandfather Fred Box lived in Hiteman along with his three brothers George, Joe and Jake. They lived in Belleville IL in 1880 and came to Hiteman somtime before 1900. Fred was a railroad conductor, the others were all miners. Joe later changed his name to Baux. Fred and his wife Minnie (Bagley) had 10 children and most of the boys except my grandfather adopted the Baux spelling.
Fred, George and Joe were all born in Timsbury Somerset England. I believe Jake was born in Belleville IL. Wish I could find them in the 1890 census!

Where does the Baux come in your family?
