THEODORE WINNEKE

Theodore Winneke was born on December 29. 1882 at Neola, Iowa. He was the oldest child born to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Winneke. He resided near Neola until marriage. After marriage, he and his family moved to a farm near Charter Oak where they farmed for six years. They then went to a farm near Castana for five years. In 1922 he and his family moved to Mapleton where he lived for the remainder of his life. After moving into Mapleton. Mr. Winneke worked for Monona County on the bridge construction crew.

H a was married to Hannah Pedersen on Dec. 15, 1915, at Ida Grove. A daughter and: 2 sons were born to this union. He was a member of the Methodist church at Mapleton, a member of the Mapleton Odd Fellows Lodge, and of the Rebekah Lodge at Mapleton.

Mr. Winneke died Saturday, Oct. 8, 1960, at his home following a long illness. He had reached the age of 77 years, 10 months, and 9 days.

Survivors include the wife, Hannah; one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Irene) Riley of Smithland: two sons, Raymond of Sioux City and Harold of Santa Ana, Calif., seven grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Johnnie Powell of Mapleton and Mrs. Ann a Winneke of Denison; one brother, Leo of Leavenworth, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
