Ethel Mae Kratz, 94, of Moorhead, Iowa passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 in Omaha, Nebraska.

A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Bethesda Lutheran Church, Moorhead, Iowa with Pastor Chip Borgstadt officiating. (Please bring and wear masks). Burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Ethel Mae was born May 12, 1926 in rural Turin, Iowa the daughter of Orlo Maurice and Goldie Mae (Scott) Shaffer. She graduated from the Castana High School in 1943.

Ethel Mae and Loyle Kratz were united into marriage November 10, 1946 in Moorhead, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Cathy, Judy, and Ron. Loyle passed away February 27, 2017.

She enjoyed quilting, reading, embroidery, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, baking, and knitting. Ethel Mae was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church, Moorhead, Iowa. She served on the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children, Cathy (Harold Remmenga) Stephens of Onawa, Iowa, Judy Bonafilia of Omaha, Nebraska, and Ron (Deb) Kratz of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Kim (John) Loneman of Omaha, Nebraska, Mike (Heather) Bonafilia of Omaha, Nebraska, Kevin (Kayla) Bonafilia of Omaha, Nebraska, Mandy (Otis) Phillips of Lake Waukomis, Missouri, Kelly (Nate) McGranahan of Blair, Nebraska; great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Mason Loneman, Rylee and Reis Bonafilia, Arianna, Kynzleigh and Kamden Bonafilia, Eli and Josie Phillips, and Clay, Levi, Avery, and Judah McGranahan; and one brother, Richard (Paula) Shaffer of Salem, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyle F. Kratz; parents, Orlo and Goldie (Scott) Shaffer; step mother, Odessa (Hutcheson) Shaffer; brother, Randall Shaffer; brother and sister-in-law, Chuck (Donna) Shaffer; and two sons-in-law, Ken Stephens and Dave Bonafilia.

Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation in Ethel Mae’s memory.
