Dorothy Eldora (Losh) Rains, 91, passed away at the Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, IA, on December
10, 1996.

Funeral services were held on Friday, December 13, 1996 at the United Methodist Church in Pisgah,
IA, with the Rev. Thomas Connors officiating.

Pallbearers were James Rains, Leeanne McMillen, Roger Rains, Ron Rains, Jodean Rains, Dawn
McMillen, Robert Rains, and Andrew Rains.

Interment was in Soldier Valley Cemetery in Pisgah, IA.

Dorothy was born on October 9, 1905 at California Junction, IA, the daughter of William and Florence
(Burson) Losh. She was raised on a farm two miles west of Moorhead, IA. She attended a country school through the eighth grade located near her home, and then attended Moorhead High School.

On October 9, 1924, she married Elmer Allen Rains at her home. They lived on a farm five miles east
of Pisgah, IA, until 1964, when they retired and moved into Pisgah. Dorothy lived in that house until this past July when she moved to the Elmwood Care Centre.

Dorothy liked to travel and always had a large garden.

Dorothy and Elmer had two sons: Ithel Elmer and Ivan Lester.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, two sisters and brother.

She is survived by two daughters-in-law: Sylvia Wenndt of Pisgah and Maxine Perrin of Woodbine; five grandchildren: James and Maggie Rains of Pisgah; Leeanne and Terry McMillen of Orange City, IA; Roger Rains of Pisgah; Ronald and Renee Rains of Colorado Springs, CO; and Jodean and Stephanie Rains of Polo, IL; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Maxine Losh; special friend Diane Duhacek; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
