December 8, 1963 ~ May 26, 2021 (age 57)

Ella Benson, 57, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at her residence.

A funeral service will be 11:30 A.M. Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Michael Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:30 A.M. Friday, June 4, 2021 at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Ella was born December 8, 1963 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Theodore “Ted” and Karen Hayden. She attended school at West High in Sioux City and later achieved her G.E.D.

Ella married James Girard and three children were born to this union, Stephanie, Anthony “Tony”, and James “Jim”. The couple later divorced. Ella met Jeff Zeitler and they were together several years until he passed. Ella and her significant other Rick Serviss were together several years until he passed April 19, 2021.

She worked in the food service and was later disabled. She enjoyed painting, and collecting coke memorabilia, butterflies and angels. She loved her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Stephanie Coenen of Sioux City, Iowa, Tony Girard of North Sioux City, South Dakota, and Jim Girard of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren, Alex Coenen, Chris Coenen, Cody Girard, Zoey Girard, Zach and Chase Pickens; her father, Ted Hayden, Sr.; brothers and sisters, Linda Schager, Kelli Hayden-Perkins, Ted Hayden, Jr., Ron Hayden, and Vickie Walters; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Karen Hayden, sisters, Patricia “Trish” Feekes and Teri Heald; and one brother, “Tyke” Derby.
