This community was saddened by the death of Leo Marley, second son of Mr. and Mrs. John Marley, highly respected residents of South Sherman. Leo was born and raised in this place, being just in the spring of his life, 24 years old. He was an ideal example of a young manhood, being devoted Christian, and loving and beautiful son and brother. He was also an industrious young business man, being associated with his father in managing one of the largest tracts of land in this territory. When a small lad returning from school he was riding on the side of a wagon, in some manner he fell, the wheels running his body over, 2 ribs and his shoulder blade were dislocated, crowding his heart, always causing his heart to be weak. This aggravated by severe attack of influenza developing into pneumonia, caused his death, Friday, February 13, at 5:20. All that skilled help and loving hands could do was to no avail. Obsequies were held Monday February 16th. A short service was held at the home at 9.00 and 10:00 a.m. in St Bernard’s church by our Rev. Father Smith. Those that were left to mourn his untimely death are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Marley, and two brothers, three sisters who have the deepest sympathy and all this sad hour.
