"In the name of God, Amen.

I, Mary J. Piper, of the town of Mitchell in the
County of Mitchell and the State of Iowa, being of a sound and disposing mind and memory, and knowing of the uncertainties of this life and being desirous of settling my wordly affairs, do make and publish this my last will and estament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made, and especially one dated July 12, 1895.

Item 1st.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Ida W. Torsleff the use and occupation, during her natural life,all of my real estate of which I may die seized, especially the North West Quarter of the north east quarter and the North West fractional quarter of Section No. Eighteen (18) Township No. Ninety-eight (98) Range No. Seventeen West of the 5th P.M. containing one hundred and twenty acres together with all of the improvements thereon. Also all of the household goods then belonging to me, she to have and the hold the same to her own use, free from the control of her present or any future husband, during said term. The said Ida W., is however to pay to my grandson L. Burton Waddell, annually, the sum of seventy five dollars, during said term, as a condition to her taking under this will.

Item 2nd.
At the death of my said daughter Ida W. I give and bequeath all of said property to my two grand children
L. Burton Wadell and L. F. Torsleff, to have and to hold the same forever, share and share alike, and in case that either of them should die before said Ida W. leaving no issue of their body or widow, then the survivor is to take the whole,but if issue survive, then such issue shall take the same share that the father would take if living, if however either should die before the said Ida W. leaving no issue, but leaving a widow, then the widow shall take one third of what would have been the share of husband if he had lived, and the surviving grandchild shall take the rest.

Item 3rd.
All of the rest and residue of my estate I give and bequeath to my grand children L. Burton Waddell and L. F. Torsleff, to have and hold the same share and share alike.

Item 4th.
I hereby constitute and appoint Ida W. Torsleff executrix of this my last will and testament, she to serve without bond, and I further direct that all of my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as may be after my decease.

In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand this 27th day of July, 1900.

The above instrument consisting of one sheet and written upon the two first pages of the same, was at the above date thereof, signed and declared by the said Mary J. Piper as and for her last will and testament, in presence of us, who at her request and in her presence have subscribed the same as witnessed to the same.
