THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
OF CHARLES STOKES.
Filed, March 6, 1891.
Will Record No. 1, Page 186.“ I Charles Stokes of the town of Mitchell, County of Mitchell, State of Iowa, being of sound mind and memory and mindful of the uncertainties of human life do make, publish and declare this my last will and testament in
manner following:
First- After the payment of my just debts and funeral expenses, I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved wife my entire estate, both Real and Personal, so long as she shall remain my widow.Second- That after the death or remarriage of my wife, the said estate shall be equally divided, share and share alike, between my sons, Charles Franklin Stokes, William Henry Stokes, Frank Stokes, Oscar Stokes, John Edward Stokes, George Kimble Stokes, Arthur Ernest Stokes, and my daughters Eliza Ann Stokes, Clara Augusta Stokes, Charlotte May Stokes, Edith Maud Stokes.
Third- I also declare that each of my sons who have heretofore or may hereafter, leave my employment before their majority shall have deducted from their equal share of my estate the value of said time, and the amount thereof to be equally divided between the other heirs. The value of said time to be determined by the Executrix of this my last Will & Testament. The above third paragraph shall not apply to my son Charles F. Stokes, who was called into the service of his Country in the War of 1861.
Fourth- I also devise and bequeath that in case my wife Ann E. Stokes remarries, she shall be entitled to one third of my estate in her own right.
Fifth. I also declare as my will that my estate both Real and personal shall not be divided until my youngest child shall attain his or her own majority.
Sixth. I hereby appoint my said wife A. E. Stokes, Executrix of this my last will and testament, and I hereby revoke all former wills by me made.
