Kirk Brenton McCombs was born June 16, 1951 in Knoxville, Iowa the son of Jesse and Gene (Woody) McCombs.

He was raised in Knoxville and graduated with the Class of 1969. He then attended Nettleton Business College in Omaha. Kirk worked for Iowa Paint for over 30 years as the head of data processing until the company sold. For the last two years, he has been self-employed.

In his spare time, Kirk was involved with the Isaak Walton League and had logged hundreds of hours flying planes. He also enjoyed the Hawkeyes and spending time on his acreage.

Kirk passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2009, at Mercy Hospital, in Des Moines, at the age of 58 years.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kerry McCombs.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Jennifer McCoy of Des Moines; son, Drew McCombs of Des Moines; mother, Gene McCombs of Knoxville; wife, Cheryl of Pleasant Hill; 1 grandchild, Geneva Faye McCoy; 8 step-grandchildren; sister, Elaine (Bill) Mick of Topeka, KS; sister-in-law, Dixie McCombs of Boone; 7 nieces and nephews and many cousins that will miss him.
