Lyndi Su Boots Nelson was born January 7, 1961 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of James Martin Boots and Janet Rose (Chambers) Boots.

Lyndi was raised in Indianola and graduated with the Indianola High Class of 1979. Following graduation, Lyndi joined the Iowa Air National Guard. She had been stationed in Tacoma, Washington and Bitburg, Germany before returning to Indianola in 1983.

On August 1, 1986 she was united in marriage to Charlie Nelson. Lyndi spent her entire career serving the United States in the Air Guard. She retired on December 9, 2008 due to health reasons.

Lyndi was a person of strong faith and convictions. She was proud to serve her country and found great joy in her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Lyndi fought the good fight and finished the race.

Lyndi passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at her home, in Indianola, at the age of 48 years, 8 months and 22 days.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Noel and Ethel Chambers and Maxine Woodside and Donald Boots.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband Charles Franklin; children, Charity (Troy) Dowell of Pleasant Hill, Natasha (Rob) McAtee of Des Moines, James Colby “J.C.” Cleaveland of Indianola, Ashley Nelson of Norwalk; 3 grandchildren, Emma Rose, Josie Nichole and Sarah Marie Dowell; parents, Martin and Janet Boots of Pleasantville; siblings, Cyndi (Joe) Osborne (Katherine-niece) of Sacramento, CA, David (Tamara) Boots (Tristan-nephew & Tessa-niece) of O’Fallon, IL, James Royal Boots of Pleasantville, in-laws, Steve & Laura Schrodt of Altoona (Michael & Amy Schrodt- nephew, and their daughter, Piper of Waukee); Patrick Schrodt of Des Moines; Donald & Marcia Nelson of San Antonio, Texas; Erin & Mike (Zach) Pennington of Dallas, Texas and Andy Nelson of Dallas, Texas; close friend, Frank Haag of Indianola and many other family members and friends.

Burial: Lincoln Cemetery
