Joseph Oller was born on April 16, 1919 in Des Moines, Iowa to John and Susan Oller. He died July 14, 2009.

He received his education in Creston, Iowa after which he was employed by the National Bank in Creston.

He married Mary Schaffer on June 1, 1941 and they moved to California where he was advanced to a position with the Bank of America.

Due to the war, Joe enlisted in the Army to become an officer in October of 1941. Finishing training, he was sent overseas to the battles in the Pacific. During the battle on Luzon, he was badly wounded and airlifted to the Army hospital in the state of Washington for a slow recovery.

After his recovery, he joined his wife, Mary, who was teaching in the Knoxville Schools in June of 1946. They remained in Knoxville where he became occupied with taxes and eventually a position as a Business Manager in the school system until his retirement.

He was a hero, a kind father, loving husband, as well as a faithful member of the United Methodist Church. Due to war injuries he became partially handicapped for the remainder of his life.

Those preceding him in death were his parents, four sisters, one brother, one sister-in-law, three nephews, and two nieces.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, daughters Susan Heun of Des Moines and Nancy Brosemer (Roger) of Seattle, Washington, grandsons Joseph Heun, Ross Brosemer, Dr. Richard McKay (Donna), and James Schaffer (Judy), along with many other relatives and friends.

Burial: Graceland Cemetery Knoxville, IA
