James Loucks Davis (Jim) passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville. Jim died peacefully with his daughters at his side. He was 87.

Jim was born January 28, 1922 at Collins Hospital in Knoxville, the son of J.M. & Ada Mae Davis.

He was born to be a farmer. He attended Knoxville schools and upon graduation went to Simpson College. He was on the Simpson track team and won several awards.

Jim and Edith Dyer were married June 27, 1942 in Springfield, Missouri. To this union three children were born: James D. (Linda) of Keosauqua, Jane R. Davis of Ankeny and Marilee A. Cook of Pleasantville.

Other survivors include four grandchildren: April (Wes) Seuferer of Pleasantville, Matt (Jenifer) May of Pleasantville, Cody Cook of Ames and Zachary Davis of Ames and four great-grandchildren: Gabe & Peyton Seuferer and Madison & Hayden May.

Jim farmed in Pleasantville many years. He raised Black Angus cattle, jumping mules and any feathered creature around. Jim especially loved coon hunting and always had a coon hound in the yard. Jim had many friends from all walks of life. He was a member of the Marion County Fair Board and a lifetime member of the Bussey Coon Hunters Association. Jim took great pride in his mistakes as he called the children.

He loved playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edith always said she didn't know who to spank first daddy or the kids! If you knew Jim then you have a story about the time.
