Norma June Van Helten was born June 1, 1922 in Pleasantville, Iowa the daughter of Avery Spalti and Bertine (Johnston) Spalti.

Norma graduated from Pleasantville High School and then attended A.I.B.

On March 28, 1950 she was united in marriage to John Anthon Van Helten in Pleasantville. To this union one son, Sam was born. The couple farmed near Pleasantville their entire lives.

Norma passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 87 years and 19 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John on December 30, 2004.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Sam of Pleasantville and other family members and many friends.
