Jean D. Worthington was born April 15, 1924 in Marion County, Iowa the daughter of Floyd and Frankie ( Richards) Shoemaker.

She lived in the Pleasantville area most of her life. Following graduation from Pleasantville High School she attended 4 C Business College. Jean worked as a secretary for Employers Mutual Insurance until her retirement in 1995. Following her retirement Jean was able to keep busy babysitting with many local children in the Pleasantville area.

She truly enjoyed her family, grandchildren and also her dog, Sammy. Jean also loved her time spent with Willard especially their trips for an ice cream cone. She was a member of the Pleasantville Christian Church and the Eastern Star.

Jean passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 29 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, older sister, Vera Harkin, Twin brother, Dean Shoemaker, sons, Ronald Tim Worthington and Jeffrey Worthington.

Jean is survived by her son, David (Kathy) Worthington of Des Moines, daughter, Shirley (Bill) Carter of Lacona, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a special friend, Willard Van Ryswyk of Pleasantville, along with other relatives and many friends.
