Life ended for Amy Suzanne Snow Lamphier, 40, of Altoona, Saturday, December 6, 2008 in her home after over a year of suffering with renal cell carcinoma. Amy lived with grace and determination. She was a woman with a heart of gold. Amy is our angel and inspiration of unwavering faith.

Amy was born on the Sunday evening of March 24, 1968 to her parents Theodore ‘Ted’ Snow Sr. and Katherine (Katie) Comstock Snow in Knoxville, Iowa.

Amy graduated from Knoxville High School in 1986. Amy then attended the Des Moines Area Community College receiving her degree in registered nursing. Amy worked in the Knoxville area nursing homes and hospital as an emergency room nurse. She then moved to Des Moines and began working as a contract nurse and then going to dialysis care for Iowa Kidney Care which became DaVita Dialysis. More recently Amy worked as a nurse with EMC Insurance of Des Moines.

In her free time Amy loved to cook, bake, and cater food and travel. Amy holds an array of Blue Ribbons from the Iowa State Fair for her creative recipes. Amy enjoyed traveling in Europe.

On June 9, 2001, Amy married Craig Lamphier, formally of Oelwein, and currently employed at Nationwide Insurance as a DBA for the PCIT Data Warehouse. Amy and Craig fell in love with traveling to the Cancun area of Mexico.

Her father, Ted, preceded Amy in death in 1978. Recently departed was her Grandmother, Antonia, in July 2008.

Surviving Amy along with her husband Craig is her mother Katie Snow and stepfather David Thomas of Knoxville. Surviving siblings include her one sister, Diane and family, as well as her one brother, Theodore ‘Ted’ Snow Jr. Step-brothers Bradley and Brian Thomas and families and one step sister, Elizabeth and family. Three nieces and two nephews are surviving Amy and one great nephew. Craig's parent's Lyle and Janice Lamphier along with Craig’s four sisters and two brothers and their families survive Amy. All of which have been touched deeply with Amy’s life and have loved and prayed for Amy during her suffering as well as many friends and family not mentioned here.

Visitation will begin after 1:30 p.m. at the Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville, Iowa on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 where the family where will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Pastor Joel Picard will hold funeral Services at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Knoxville on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. The Bybee and Davis Funeral Home of Knoxville, Iowa will be handling arrangements.

Memorial gifts should be sent to either the Animal Rescue League of Des Moines or Trinity Lutheran Church of Knoxville, Iowa.
