Lucy Lorraine Becker was born November 21, 1918 in Marion County, Iowa the daughter of Charles Mitchell and Lillie (Cavin) Mitchell.

She was raised in the Knoxville area. As a young woman she cleaned the high school and babysat children. In January of 1940 she was united in marriage to Orval Becker in Marion County. To this union two children were born, Willard and Lloyd. The family lived in Flagler until Orval got a job on the pipeline after which they moved to different locations.

In 1950 the family returned to Flagler and Lorraine and Orval later opened Becker’s Bait & Tackle. They operated the store for twenty years before retiring.

Lorraine enjoyed raising flower and vegetable gardens every year. She would then can for hours until the work was done. Lorraine will be remembered as a thrifty and hard working person and a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She passed away on Friday, December 5, 2008 at the Comfort House, in Pella, at the age of 90 years and 14 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Mattie Lou; four brothers: Hale, Clarence, Charles, Jr. and Robert and one grandson, Jonathan Lloyd Becker.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Willard (Judy) and Lloyd (Dolores) both of Knoxville; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Madonna Witter of Pella, Dorothy Carter of Knoxville and Helen Couchman of Ft. Worth, Texas; her brother, Lee Mitchell of Knoxville and many other family members and friends.

Burial: Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, IA
