Ray passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, at the age of 93 years, 6 months and 6 days.

He is survived by his children, Judy Paulsen of Knoxville, Steve (Terry) McCombs of Pella; 2 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Alva McCombs
