Hubert D. Brent was born June 17, 1917 in Pleasantville, Iowa the son of Walter and Pearl (LeMar) Brent.

He was raised in rural Pleasantville, Pinchey and Melcher. As a young man, Hubert worked on his family farm.

On June 17, 1956 he was united in marriage to Ruby Annabelle Browning in Knoxville, with her father officiating. To this union, three children were born. In 1956 Ruby and Hubert built their house on a farm near Pleasantville where they lived until moving to town in 1978. Hubert also worked as a custodian at the school from 1969 to 1981. He also helped his son, Wade mow until he was 85 years old.

Hubert was active in the Lions Club and the Christian Church when he was younger. He also enjoyed watching Pleasantville sports and the Hawkeyes. His greatest joy was spending time with his family; and he was especially proud of his grandchildren.

Hubert passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Mercy Hospital, in Des Moines, at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 25 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby in 2004; two brothers, Paul and Fred Brent and his sister, Daisy Harkin.

Those left to mourn his passing include his daughter, Daun Storm (Kevin); two sons, Wade and Jay (Judy) Brent all of Pleasantville; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and his twin brother, Robert Brent of Knoxville and many other family members and friends.
