Daryl Jay Clipperton, age 64, of Hamilton, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at the Hospice Comfort House in Pella, Iowa.

Daryl was born on March 13, 1945, in Knoxville, Iowa to Noble Ernest and Irene (Godfrey) Clipperton. He attended and graduated from Twin Cedars High School Class of 1963.

After high school Daryl worked construction before he was drafted and served in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Carson, CO. until 1967.

After serving his country Daryl married Beverly Jo Rankin on Flag Day, June 14, 1968 at the Methodist Church in Attica.

Daryl worked for EFCO in Des Moines for eight years before he started work at 3M in Knoxville. He worked for 3M as shipping and receiving supervisor for 31 years, retiring in June 2005.
Daryl enjoyed being outdoors fishing, mushroom hunting, and gardening. He also loved spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren and his puppies Murph and Noble.

Daryl is survived by his wife, Beverly Clipperton of Hamilton; his children, Jennifer Jo Rothfus and her husband Rodney of Carlisle, and Patrick James Clipperton of Hamilton; 5 grandchildren, Mattheiw Boyd Clipperton, Samantha Jo Rothfus, Zachariah Allen Rothfus, Brett William Rothfus, and Breanna Arlene Rothfus. Daryl is also survived by his sisters, Colleen Visser and her husband Ted of Lovilia, Jean Nichols of Newton, Shirley Walker and her husband Melvin of Newton, Marlene Allen of Hamilton, Pat Bonnett and her husband Dwight “Hime” of Bussey, and Caryl Bonnett of Bussey; one sister-in-law, Merry Rankin of Ames; and mother-in-law, Twila Rankin of Knoxville.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents, Noble and Irene; three sisters, June Clark, Beverly Hugen and Ella Johnson; and father-in-law Boyd Rankin.
