Kenneth Dean Wahl was born on September 30, 1936 in Appanoose County, Iowa. He was one of two sons born to Wanda Irene Nicholson and Esco George Wahl. On February 15, 1958 Kenneth was married to Mary Louise Kain. To this union two children were born.

Kenneth worked at the Eagle Iron Works in Des Moines until 1973. During this time the family lived on a small farm near Melcher where he also farmed. Kenneth worked from 1973 until his retirement in 1998 at Meredith Publishing Company. He moved to Des Moines in 1981 where he also operated “Ken’s Lawn Service”; doing lawn care and snow removal. Kenneth was a collector. His special interests were Coca-Cola and John Deere memorabilia. Springtime was always anticipated for the mushroom hunting. Kenneth was also a cat and dog lover.

Kenneth Dean Wahl passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines at the age of 72 years and 9 days.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

Those left to mourn his passing are his children, Kelli (Jeff) Isley and Kevin (Billie) Wahl of Knoxville; five grandchildren, Chelsea (Jason) Smith of Lovilia, Alex Wahl, Gina (Ron) Crabtree, Kylie and Keri Carter all of Knoxville; four great-grandchildren, Hanna and Ty Smith of Lovilia and Zach and Reed Long of Knoxville; a special cousin, Beverly Streeter of Des Moines; a special friend for many years, Judy John, her son, Tim (Pat) John of Des Moines; and her four grandchildren, D.J., Amy, Ariel and Zoie John all of Des Moines.

Mr. Wahl was cremated as per his request. There will be a service at a later date.
