Clara Jean Lyon was born March 3, 1919 in Burlington, CO. She was one of 2 daughters born to Clarabel Kincaid and John Evert Williams. Jean graduated from Donnellson High School. After graduation Jean attended the College of Commerce in Burlington, Iowa.

Jean was united in marriage to Donald Irvin King. After Don’s death, Jean met and later married Charles Lyon.

Jean was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She and Charles enjoyed many years traveling together. They were members of the Good Sam’s Club.

Jean passed away on Sat. Oct. 11, 2008 at the Pella Regional Health Center Long Care Unit at the age of 89 years.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands.

Those left to mourn her passing are 3 children; Allen (Diane) King, Marilyn (Gary) Schumacher of Knoxville and John (Debinee) King of Pella; 2 step-sons, Charles Floyd (Inez) Lyon of TX and Daniel Lyon of FL; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Leola Hodson of Dousman, WI.

Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home with Sam Dye officiating. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery. Casket bearers were Doug Enabnit, Austin King, Jordan King, Landon King, Wesley King, and Don Rummans. Honorary casket bearers were Russ Clayton, Jack Crook, Bill Thrasher, Charles Walter and George Werts. Musical selections were “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden”. Jennifer Bingham was the vocalist. Tiffany Van Zante was the organist. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders Ass. Greater Iowa Chapter.
