Rose, Thomas Ezekiel – 1856-1954

Thomas Ezekiel Rose was born February 24, 1856, and died at his home near Busey, January 15, 1954, at the age of 97 years, 10 months and 21 days. He was the oldest child of Richard and Matilda Glenn Rose and lived his entire life in Marion county.
Mr. Rose was united in marriage to Nancy E. Stephens and this happy marriage continued for sixty-seven years until the death of Mrs. Rose, June 18, 1945.
“Uncle Zeke” as he was so familiarly known, was always interested in public affairs though he never sought an office.
After retiring from active farming, reading was his hobby, but due to cataracts for a few months he was unable to pursue it, but at the age of 96 years he had surgery and was most thankful to be able to read again.
Besides his aged brother, Charles, of Newton, Kans., he leaves Seth and Arminta in the home, Dwight, of Des Moines, Mrs. Worth Phelps, Arniset, Minn., Mrs. Oral Bassett, of Milan, Mich., and Mrs. Roy Sherman; also several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Bybee & Davis funeral home, Tuesday, at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. John Turner. Interment was in Liberty cemetery.
