J. Wright Williams was born at Knoxville, July 28, 1866 and died Thursday, June 2, 1949 at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 26 days at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. H. Falvey in Toledo, Ohio, where he had been visiting since last October.
On November 25, 1888 he was united in marriage with Miss Lou Elle Snider and together they were permitted to celebrate their sixtieth wedding anniversary last November.
Mr. Williams spent a number of years in the real estate and insurance business in both Knoxville and Oskaloosa, having moved here in 1922.
He was converted and joined the Free Methodist church in early manhood and maintained his membership until death.
He was preceded in death by an infant, Edna May, and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lou Ella Williams, two daughters, Mrs. J. H. Falvey of Toledo, Ohio and Mrs. Blanche Dalbey of Oskaloosa and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Wilcox-Garland chapel in Oskaloosa, Monday, June 6, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. E. Milo Martin in charge. Burial was in the Graceland cemetery at Knoxville.
