Calvin Stilwell, 78, died Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Emmett Godfrey of Hamilton. He had been in failing health for several months.
Mr. Stilwell was born at Hamilton, February 7, 1871, and lived in that community all his life.
The deceased was united in marriage to Miss Hester Simms, September 22, 1885. To this union one daughter, Bessie, was born. He was converted when a young man in the Methodist church in Hamilton. Mrs. Stilwell died in 1941.
Mr. Stilwell is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Godfrey, of Hamilton; a brother, Joe Stilwell of Hamilton, two sisters, Mrs. Rose Pence of Hamilton and Mrs. Della Lee of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Hamilton Methodist church in charge of the Rev. L. E. Mather, pastor of the Nazarene church, assisted by rev. E. K. Parrott, of Lovilla. Burial was made in the Hamilton cemetery. – Bussey Effort
