James W. Sparks, a native of Marion county and a resident of Knoxville and vicinity a great many years, died in the Hospital for the Insane at Norman, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, January 10, 1906, aged 51 years, 2 months and 10 days.
Deceased was born three miles south of Knoxville on Oct. 30, 1854. He was a son of J. H. and Elizabeth E. Sparks.
James W. Sparks had been twice married, both matrimonial unions taking place in this county. The first marriage was with Miss Emma Kelley, who died in 1879. His second wife was Miss Eva Bruce, of the northern part of Clay township. The last wife and seven children still survive. Also deceased was a brother of Mrs. John W. Bishop, who resides west of town. Mr. Sparks had only been in the asylum a short while, his commitment to that institution resulting from a weakening of the mind caused by kidney troubles.
