Zin, George – 1861-1944

George Zin was born September 22, 1861, in Appanoose county, Iowa, and passed away October 13, 1944, at the age of 83 years, 21 days.
He was the son of pioneer parents, Charles and Elizabeth Long Zin, and the oldest of six children. Three brothers, Calvin L., who lived in Washington state, Harvey A., of Hinton, Okla., and Ira P., of Enid, Okla., survive him; his sister, Laura, wife of Richard Cain, passed away in 1886 near Zion, and Mary, wife of John Overman, passed away near Wichita, Kans., in 1942.
George Zin was married January 18, 1883, to Mary Emma Goodspeed, who survives him. No children were born to this union.
They had lived on a farm in the McClintock neighborhood a few years, then moved to the Zion neighborhood, and later to Knoxville where he was engaged in business a number of years. They afterwards lived in Dallas for six years.
George had many friends and was known to all for his kindly and generous nature. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist church and also a member of the Odd Fellow and Rebecca Lodge.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Bybee-Davis Funeral Home, at 2:30 o’clock by the Rev. Azel Smith. Interment was in Zion cemetery.
