Henry August Jordan, born and reared in Marion county, passed away at his home in Lusk, Wyo., after continued failing health for several months. Six brothers and sisters survive: John, Louis and Charlie Jordan, all of Knoxville, and Mrs. Christine Bittenbender and Mrs. Ralph Kelly of Knoxville, and Mrs. Emma Clark, Pleasantville. His wife, Rebecca, passed away in 1942.
Funeral services were held at Lusk. Burial was at Jay Em, Wyo., where Mrs. Jordan is buried and where the two had formerly lived. Extended graveside services were conducted at the cemetery.
Henry August Jordan, son of Frederick and Henrietta Jordan, was born March 14, 1868, in Marion county. In 1916 he came west and located on a homestead near Jay Em. Later he was married to Mrs. Rebecca Iselle and the Lusk Free Press said of them: “They were a hard-working and prosperous couple and lived on their farm until Mrs. Jordan’s death in 1942.” Mr. Jordan soon thereafter sold his farm and purchased a home in this city, where he had since resided. In both localities, Mr. Jordan had acquired many friends and was always highly respected and admired by all who knew him.’
