John Hall Bridges, son of William and Elizabeth Hall Bridges, was born near Attica, Ia., March 10, 1878, and departed this life, Step. 13, 1944, at the home of his son, Floyd E. Bridges, at Pleasantville, Ia.
In January 1897, he was married to Aura Jane Darnell. To this union, one son, Floyd, was born.
John, as he was familiarly hailed by hundreds of his friends, was a farmer, practically all of his life in Marion county. The past 3 ½ years he spent on a farm near Dallas, Ia., where declining health the past two years compelled him to give up his work.
He took great pride in his family and home and was never happier than when helping a friend or neighbor. He united with the Methodist church early in life, maintaining his faith to the end.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Aura, his son, Floyd, and wife, Effie, three brothers, A. T. Bridges, J. E. Bridges and M. T. Bridges of Attica, and two sisters, Ruth Flanagan of Knoxville, and Sabra Sharon of Des Moines.
His parents and one sister, Ollie, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church in Knoxville, Friday, Sept. 15, 1944, conducted by the Rev. Gerald LaMotte of Melcher, Ia. Interment was in Graceland cemetery.
