Jerry Michael Decker, 60, of Lorimor, passed away unexpectedly on August 1, 2024 at his home. Mike was born on March 14, 1964 in Osceola, Iowa to Everett and Dixie (Kirk) Decker. He was a graduate from East Union High School in Afton.

A lifelong resident of Lorimor, Mike enjoyed knowing all of the people from the area and considered most of them friends. He worked for Decker and Sons Custom Fencing building fences with his dad and brother. Prior to that, Mike sold insurance products for many years. On October 3, 1998, Mike was united in marriage to Bonnie Foland.

Mike was a great guy and extremely hard worker. For many years, he lived on his grandparents farm and took care of his grandma and grandpa Kirk while farming part time. He also enjoyed collecting antiques and going to auctions. Mike always made a visit up at Whistle Stop every morning to catch up on the local gossip. During the summer, Mike always made sure to take a trip up to the state fair, eating all the fried food and visiting the many beer gardens. He enjoyed building fences with his dad and brother, along with the occasional odd job of tearing down barns. Overall, Mike loved his friends and family the most and he will be extremely missed.

Mike is survived by his parents, Everett and Dixie Decker of Peru; brothers, Marty Decker of Lorimor, and Matt Decker (Brandy) of Peru; nieces, Makayla and McKenzie; and stepson, Dillon Savage. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; and grandparents, Gerdon and Ruby Kirk, and Elmer and Grace Decker.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the funeral home with Jim Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Lorimor Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation.
