Louisa Center, June 6- We were all surprised to hear of the death of one of our young schoolmates, Leonard Smith, whom we will miss greatly. Leonard was well liked by young and old and it was a sad message to us all. His mother, Mrs. Manda Smith, was taken away on Monday morning. She was a very nice neighbor and was well like by one an all. The took place on Tuesday at 10 a. m. It was well attended.

Page 5 -- Leonard Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm Smith, died at his home near Cairo, Sunday June 4, 1899 at 3:30 a. m. He was a bright young man, loved and liked by all who knew him. He was a terrible sufferer from the time he took sick until his death. He passed away very suddenly, taking sick on Thursday and dying on Sunday. He will be missed by his many friends and especially in the home circle. Deceased was born May 8, 1883, being at the time of his death 10 years and 26 days old. The funeral was preached at Cairo Tuesday, June 6th by Rev. Bishop and the remains laid to rest beside his mother in Spring Run cemetery.
