Wapello, December 13- Mr. Newton N. Edwards was born at Waterville, New York, March 2, 1855, and died at his home in Wapello, Iowa, December 9, 1898. Mr. Edwards moved from New York to Wapello, in 1894, where he has lived ever since. He was a practical and scientific farmer, and also a first-class veterinary surgeon by profession. He was very intelligent, cultured gentleman and honorable citizen, whose friends were only circumscribed by the sphere of his acquaintances.

He was united in marriage to Miss Rose Miller in 1876, and to them were born four children who died in infancy, the widow along surviving. the funeral obsequies were held at the Presbyterian church Sunday, December 11, 1898, under the auspices of the Woodmen lodge, and Rev. T. N. Buchanan preaching a most able eloquent and touching sermon to a very concourse of sorrowing and sympathizing friends.
