In Response To: John B Oswald (Dean Zubke)

I did not find John B Oswald in Monticello or Monticello Twp. in 1895.

In 1915 state census, he is in Monticello Twp. as a farmer with his wife Mary (born in IA) and their three children, Joseph and Leo(and a daughter). John Oswald says he has lived in Iowa for 28 years. That would put him here in 1887.

We are in the process of transcribing the 1895 Jones Co. census. We should know where he is (if he is in Jones Co.) within the next month.

The 1910 census is very, very difficult to read.

The 1925 census shows John B Oswald and Mary Wernimont as the parents of both Leo and Joseph.

I could not find either of them in the cemetery listing for Monticello--Catholic or Protestant cemeteries. However, Joseph and his wife are buried in the Catholic cemetery.

I will look for a probate and a death date next Wednesday when I am in Anamosa.
