The Jones County Genealogical Society can help you with some of the lookups mentioned. Ask: Joanne Wilken wilkend@aol.com who is very knowledgable and works there to help you.

I am also assuming the Anamosa library has newspapers dating back that time on microfilm. Usually they were published weekly rather than daily back in those days. Again, Joanne or the JCGS can help.
