BELL from OH or PA ?

I am interested in the birth place and ancestry of Mary Ann BELL, wife of Robert H. ESPY
According R. M. Corbitt, they were " both natives of Pennsylvania. They came to Jones county in 1851" (History of Jones County, Iowa, Past and Present, S. J. Clarke Publishing Co., Chicago, 1910, p. 450). The ESPY family is well known in Pennsylvania. Robert and Mary Ann's children were born there, in Mercer County. But in the 1856 census of Scotch Grove, the birth place of Mary Ann BELL is alleged to be OHIO. I don't where she get married.

How could I know more ?
