From what I have found, Alfred T. Voss married November 15, 1964 at Davenport, IA to Rose Wendt Engelbrecht. She was born July 19, 1891 and died May 24, ___ at University Hospital in Iowa City.
Obviously both were married before. If this is correct then Rose couldn't be the mother to Lester born 1916. But then this isn't concrete as I do find Alfred and Rose in the 1920 census at Farmington, Cedar County, IA. Alfred was born in Germany and came to the US in 1906 through PA. He was born c.1883 and she was born c.1891 which matches the above Rose. Lester was 3y 3m old and had a sister named Leona age 5. Both children born in Iowa.

Also take a look at the following obituary link. may give you some leads? It mentions an Alfred Voss.
