Do you have dates for the children of Austin Welch? Have you found any information on Austin (Sr.)'s siblings? Were any ever in Delaware County, IA? Do you know what the middle initial B in John's name stood for? I know my Welch are not these Welch, but there are similarities.
I am looking for siblings of John (1822-1871) and wife Bridget (Hennessey) Welch who were located at Greeley, Delaware County, IA from 1855 to 1886. Children were Edward B Welch, Mary J Welch Hynes, Margaret (Maggie) Welch Scanlan, John L Welch, William M Welch, Ellen B Welch Faust, born from 1855 to 1867. One family bible has a Martin Welch as either John's first name or his father's name. John and Bridget were both "born Ireland" on census records of 1860 and 1870. Most of the family (Bridget, Ed, William, John Jr, Ellen) moved in 1886 to Westfield, Plymouth County, IA. Margaret moved to St. Louis. Mary we think stayed around Manchester but died in O'Neil, NE in 1889. Ellen at one point thought her parents (John and Bridget Hennessey Welch) were married in New York, but with conflicting information we cannot find a marriage record. I am seeing more similarities in first names and places to your information, which may be co-incidental, or following the same family naming ritual, or popularity of Irish names in the same years? Have you found anything since your post that may connect these families? Thanks
